Every Bollywood actress is in a race to look undenyingly amazing, widely acknowledged as the first lady of Indian cinema. The first known woman actor Devika Rani has made all dumbfound by giving a long kissing scene on screen.
Born in Army family on March 30th 1908 in AP Devika Rani has played versatile roles on screen, Devika Rani had a successful film career that spanned 10 years but sadly she left us all on March 9th 1994.
At the age of 9 she was sent England for completion of her studies. After completion of her studies, she was determined to do films, but her parents refrained her from doing so.
She acquired degree from the “Royal Academy of Dramatic Art” England. Apart from it she had also done diploma in vaastukala. During this she met with producer Bulf who praised her skill of art and motivated her to pursue it as her career.
After that she happened to meet with the director Himanshu Rai who was spell bound with her magnetic beauty. He offered her a film “ Karam” in 1933, where Himanshu and Devika were into lead role.
Actor director Himashu smooched the actress for 4 minute in that film, which was highly criticized by the public. Resisting to their criticism, Himanshu married Devika.
She is the only Indian woman who was awarded with the Dada Sahib Phalkey award. She worked in the following films such as- Achoot Kanya(1963), Jeevan Prabhaat (1947). Durga (1939), etc. after the death of her husband, she went into depression for few years. But later she met with Svetoslav Roerich, and later got married. Son after she said final byee to the industry.
